How do I become a Caribou Contests Coordinator?

How do I become a Caribou Contests Coordinator?
Answer:
Becoming a Caribou Contests Coordinator is easy and free. It takes about 5 minutes to sign up.
To register, in the top bar menu select Coordinators > Register You will need to give your contact information and if necessary add your school as well. From your Caribou Coordinator account you will be able to access all documentation and tools necessary to run the contests, starting with the Contest Coordinator Instructions.
Can a school have more than one Coordinator?
-
Can a school have more than one Coordinator?
Answer:
Yes, there is no limit to the number of Coordinators at a single school.
Please note that a Coordinator cannot see the account information or results of students registered to another Coordinator at the same school. For this reason, to be able to see all student information in one place, many schools prefer to have a single Caribou Coordinator account which is shared by multiple teachers.
A common arrangement at large schools if for one teacher to handle the access codes for one grade level to avoid confusion (e.g. Mrs. Doe handles 3/4 access codes and Mr. Buck handles 5/6 access codes).
When a new Coordinator registers at your school, you will receive an email notification (unless you have unchecked ‘Allow Caribou Contests to contact me’). You can see all the Coordinators registered at your school, if any, at the top of your Coordinator Homepage when signed in.

Can I be a Coordinator for more than one school?
Answer:
Yes, if you are running Caribou for more than one school, you should make a separate Coordinator account for each school. However, you will need separate email addresses for the accounts. Two Coordinator accounts cannot have the same email address.

Why can’t I see the students registered under my colleague’s Coordinator account?
-
Why can’t I see the students registered under my colleague’s Coordinator account?
Answer:
Coordinators can only view student information and results for students registered under their own Coordinator account for security reasons.
Can a parent be a Coordinator?
-
Can a parent be a Coordinator?
Answer:
To maintain fairness we prefer that students be supervised by a non-parent adult like a teacher, tutor, or librarian. For students participating separately from their school, it is possible to register without a school: when purchasing Contest Participation in the Online Shop, select the No School checkbox to register with the Caribou Virtual School. For Home Schools with many students, a parent may sign up to be a Coordinator to run the contest as a Home School. See the Coordinator Registration page for a walkthrough of these options.
I did not receive an activation email.
-
I did not receive an activation email.
Answer:
When you register for a new account or change your email address, you should receive an activation email within seconds. If you don’t, then our email is not reaching you. The solution will depend on the cause:- Your email’s spam filter has blocked our email. Check your trash/spam folder to see if our email is there. If it is, check if you have the option to mark it as ‘not spam’. If necessary you may have to contact your IT office to unblock emails from [email protected].
- There was a typo in your email when you registered. If you just went through the registration process and you are logged in to your account, you can use the Coordinator tool "Test My Email Address" to send a test email and see if you receive it. Or, go to "Edit My Account" to see if you correct typed the address. If it has been too long and you are logged out, Contact Us so we can compare your email to the one used when trying to register.
- The registration attempt did not go through. Try again with the same information. If a Coordinator account already exists for your email address, you will get an error.
- If that does not work, try to register with a different email address, such as a private one that does not use your institutions’ email filters. Contact Us so we can delete your previous attempt.
I can’t log in as a Coordinator.
-
I can’t log in as a Coordinator.
Answer:
Please note, entering your name and email in the Online Shop does not create a Coordinator account. If you want to make a Coordinator account, go to Coordinators > Register .
To log in to your Coordinator account, you need the correct email and password. If you forget your password, you can reset it. Simply go to the Coordinator Sign-In page from the homepage or the top bar menu. Click on the button “Can’t sign in? Reset your password.”.
To reset your password you will need the email address associated with your account and the name of your school. If you have forgotten these as well, then Contact Us and we will reset it and send it to you, whereupon you can use it to reset your password.
It is also possible that your account is not activated. After registering, you should have immediately received an email with a link to activate your account. You would also need to activate your account after changing your email address. If you did not receive the activation email, see I did not receive an activation email.
Please make sure you are using the correct email, which means the one you used when you signed up. It happens often that school changes the email addresses of all their faculty, and Coordinators try to sign in with their new email address. To update your email address, sign in with your now outdated email address, go to ‘Edit my Account’ and update your email.
